Sophia and Jeff planned a small, but a stunning wedding in Santa Barbara on 2-22-22. I first met Sophia and Jeff when I photographed their engagement session at the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens. Right away it was obvious they are crazy about each other!
The couple first met when Sophia and her sister both started training with Jeff at the gym. The three of them would hang out and it really created a bond among them during their training sessions. As the sessions were coming to an end and even though Jeff had never dated a client before there was an undeniable connection. He couldn't help but ask Sophia to be his girlfriend and according to Sohpia, it was just like in the movies!
They fell in love and made so many amazing memories during 2019. Their relationship was put to the test during the pandemic when they couldn't see each other for long periods of time, but eventually, it was safe for them to take nature trips together. It was in March of 2021 during a trip to Big Sur near a campfire and under the stars, he asked "do you want to get married on 2/2/22." Sophia was not taking him seriously at all but said "sure!" Fast forward to June 27 2021 after a hot yoga class and stopping to get artichoke bread in Pescadero for a beach picnic, a nervous Jeff asked Sophia to marry him. Fast forward to February 2, 2022, and here we were. They got married in front of the most important people in our lives.
An Emotional First Look
Because of the pandemic and uncertainty surrounding large events, more and more couples have been hosting small elopement weddings. I have to be honest, these have been some of my favorite weddings! They are so beautiful, more relaxed, and filled with so much love.
Sophia and Jeff were lucky with a beautiful, sunny Santa Barbara day. They got ready in different hotel rooms with their parents and siblings. After getting ready, the couple chose to do a first look, which was emotional and special. Jeff shed a tear before even seeing Sophia and it made my heart melt. Rather than share their vows publicly during the ceremony they chose to read them to each other beforehand. This is an intimate moment neither of them will forget.
Intimate Santa Barbara Wedding
They chose to host their ceremony outside the Santa Barbara Courthouse steps. They set up chairs for their family and friends and a small aisle to walk down. Their two dogs got to look on as well! Their closest family and friends were thrilled to see them finally tie the knot!
We spent some time taking portraits around the courthouse and at the beach before their small dinner reception back at the Santa Barbara Inn. The couple had tons of laughs with their guests and enjoyed a great dinner together. I was so happy to be a part of their special day. Congratulations to Sophia & Jeff!
